Legislators Use SEANC Members' Budget-Saving Ideas

In February SEANC presented lawmakers with a list of ideas compiled from members that would save the state money or generate much-needed income to close a more than $2 billion budget shortfall, while also maintaining vital public services and the people who provide them.

The “Take Pride in Carolina” report was distributed to every legislator and received statewide media coverage. Now with the state budget in place, it is clear that SEANC members’ voices made a real difference. Below is a list of recommendations from the “Take Pride in Carolina” report that were included in the state budget or in other legislation during this session.

The budget that the governor has proposed will result in the loss of 10,000 public service jobs. The loss of these jobs will make our roads less safe, our classrooms more crowded and our hospitals less able to care for those in need.
